SooVAC Now Hiring a Development Coordinator

JOB TITLE: Development Coordinator
Hours: Approximately 15 hours a week
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Soo Visual Arts Center is a nonprofit art space that connects our community with fresh, under-represented and provocative art.

• The Development Coordinator is a new, part-time position responsible for designing and implementing effective strategies to expand revenue for Soo Visual Arts Center. The Coordinator's duties include grant prospecting and management, donor relations and cultivation, and identifying diverse funding sources to support our programming.

You’ll be working with some of Minnesota’s finest artists and a strong community of art lovers, while being surrounded by incredible art every day. We have been operating with a small staff for 16 years, though we are a small but mighty nonprofit. You’ll also have the support and encouragement of our loyal Board of Directors.

We envision this as a position that could grow in hours and scope and increase in responsibility after some of the initial work is complete. There is exciting potential to grow the position for the right person with lots of initiative. We can also offer you flexibility and no early mornings.

1. Assist with the coordination of long-term development strategies to support key organizational programs
a. Prospect and research funding opportunities from foundations, state funding and other granting organizations
b. Assist with grant application preparation and submission
c. Coordinate and Maintain grant management system
2. Develop site visit protocols and coordinate regular site visits with prospective and current funders and community members
3. Coordinate with staff and Board Development Committee to update SooVAC’s fundraising procedures
a. Ongoing evaluation and revision of procedures
4. Research prospective business partners and sponsors
a. Assist in developing sponsorship and business partnership materials
5. Assist staff and board in ongoing donor stewardship with individual donors, business partners and funders

1. Familiarity and support of Soo Visual Arts Center’s programming and mission
2. Computer literate with strong written and verbal communication skills.
3. Experience with non-profits, arts and/or community programming a plus.
4. Experience with fundraising and development a plus.
5. Able to take initiative and comfortable in an environment that might require flexibility and adaptability.
