Show Runs: February 26 - March 27

Eric Carlson is an archival vandal. He collects, reorganizes, reassembles and over rides what existed before, sometimes there is only a slight variation and other times the source material becomes unrecognizable. Carlson manipulates imagery through collage, drawing, painting and digital alteration. His work is not focused on definitive answers only on collecting information and experiences that begin to reveal a larger narrative, a narrative that is neither fluid or static but always obstinately malleable.

After receiving a BFA in graphic design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2006, Eric has gone on to pursue multiple creative endeavors as both an artist and designer. The artistic practice is a reactionary process, avoiding a constant through ongoing experimentation. It is drawing, painting, artist books, large-scale installation, music, video, and the ongoing multifaceted collaborative practice Hardland/Heartland. Hardland/Heartland is a Minneapolis based collective of artists investigating personal histories, cultural interactions and possible futures. Carlson has exhibited at several local, national and international spaces including MAEP at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, KRETS in Sweden and is included in the book Younger Than Jesus: Artist Directory published by the New Museum, however this will be Eric Carlson’s first solo exhibition.
