Opening Reception:

Friday January 26th 2007, 7-10PM

Show Runs:

January 26th - February 24, 2007

Dan Monick, former drummer of band Lifter Puller, shows his recent photographic work at Soo Visual Arts Center. Now known for his commercial and magazine photography, the Minneapolis born and bred artist is currently based out of Los Angeles. Monick has made a career of shooting musicians and fashion for publications such as Paper, Spin, Swindle, Arkitip, Fader and Vice. Lily Allen, the Beastie Boys, Atmosphere, and the Hold Steady are just a few of the many musicians/bands he has photographed. Monick keeps busy on a number of side projects as well, including several book projects in the works (including the history of local hip hop collective RhymeSayers), working with a t-shirt company, co-curating a gallery, and his own photography work. While on tour across the country, Monick developed his laid-back style of photography. He documents a range of subjects in his street photography, from people he comes across to hand scrawled signs. Soo Visual Arts Center is pleased to present a glimpse of Monick’s current work, rarely shown in the Midwest.
