Michelle Westmark Wingard is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and arts educator with a background in darkroom and alternative-process photography. She was invited to join the Form + Content Gallery Collective in May of 2024 and will have her first solo show there in August 2026. She also has an upcoming exhibition in the Overlook Gallery at the Phipps Art Center in Hudson, Wisconsin, in May 2026. Wingard thinks about all aspects of her work as gestures of care. Her photographic textile works explore elevating care and subverting/reordering systems that are not serving us - inverting the overlooked to command the attention and reverence it deserves. She is the recipient of the Jerome Travel Grant (2015) and the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant (2017 and 2019). Wingard holds an MFA in photography from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York (2006). She lives and works in Minneapolis along with her husband Matt, who is an architect specializing in artists' studios - he designed, and together they built her studio. Michelle’s three daughters often help with cyanotype projects like the 23ft tree that her family helped her print in the alley behind their house.
