Marcus Rothering is a ceramic and fiber artist living in Minneapolis, MN. He received his B.A. in studio art from Metropolitan State University in 2021 and his MFA from the University of Minnesota in 2025.. His large scale abstract ceramic sculptures are in discussion with ancestral enchantment, kink, and externalizing. His tufted wall rugs use personal narratives and camp to express black queer sexuality. He has recently exhibited at Rubine Red Gallery, Soo Visual Art Center, Minnesota Textile Center, and Mudflat Pottery School. He was selected for the Milchhof Artist Residency in Berlin and was awarded the Rose Fellowship to conduct research on Korean ceramics and textiles in Seoul.
