Mary Jane Mansfield is an Icelandic-American artist who lives and works in the Twin Cities. Her work is a mix of whimsical, lighthearted, and sometimes serious explorations of family, life, love, desire, and dreams. Equally intrigued by psychics and physics, her allegorical work captures a sense of the space between intangible fantastical worlds and concrete realities. The transfer of energy between worlds beyond the known universe and the illusion of space between us are concepts that have an influence on her work. She is a 2025 MN State Arts Board, Creative Individuals grant recipient. Her exhibition, “Losing Control,” featuring new works on resilience, runs November 7th through December 5th at Second Shift Studios of Saint Paul.
