Tenantless Pause: Recent work by Theresa Anderson and Jennifer Nevitt

Opening Reception:

Saturday June 7, 2014 - 6-9PM

Show Runs:

June 7 - July 19

Tenantless Pause features work by Theresa Anderson and Jennifer Nevitt that ponder obsessive analysis with a rich understanding of texture and materials. Anderson’s sculpture embodies the results of the oversaturation of knowledge manifesting in gestural objects. This is her guttural language of “I don’t want to know/I want to know”. Nevitt’s mixed media paintings dissect materiality and color, the vibrations of an unmoving object translated onto the surface of paintings.

Theresa Anderson is a Denver-based interdisciplinary artist and writer. She received her BFA from the University of Colorado. Selected exhibitions and projects include a Biennial of the Americas curated by Cortney Lane Stell, master artist demonstration on drawing and exhibition of related works at the Denver Art Museum, Neurotitan, Berlin, Garage N.3 Gallery, Venice, Italy, and numerous solo exhibitions at Ironton Gallery, Firehouse Art Center, Platteforum, Ice Cube Gallery and Pirate

Contemporary Art. Anderson was recently awarded a two-year Resource Artist Residency at Redline Denver.

Jennifer Nevitt is a Minneapolis-based interdisciplinary artist. She received her MFA from the University of Minnesota. Nevitt has had several solo exhibitions throughout Minnesota as well as numerous group exhibitions including ones at the Soap Factory and Bockley Gallery.
