Andrea Carlson draws from her Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) and European ancestry as a basis for her highly stylized work. She incorporates European imagery into depictions of Anishinaabe myth to create her own modern interpretation. Her work poses questions to a dominant cultural view with room for others to derive their own meaning.
